Dr. Akbarnia Transitions to Research RoleEffective January 1, 2014, Dr. Akbarnia ended his clinical practice and transitioned to a full-time Researcher and Educator role. This is not retirement. Dr. Akbarnia will be directing his passion and energy towards research, education, and continued improvements in the quality of spine care for all patients. Dr. Akbarnia will continue to serve as President of the San Diego Spine Foundation, as faculty of San Diego Spine Fellowship Program, as well as his role as President of the Growing Spine Foundation.
